The Bothy at Balnaholish

Near Ballycastle,

County Antrim - Sleeps 4

Mar 19 "Best place ever"

This was the best weekend I have had in a while the house is amazing and the house is so peaceful just what I needed can’t wait to book again.

Feb 19 "Idyllic"

We've just spent a weekend at The Bothy and to say it was perfect is an understatement. It is quite possibly the most beautiful little cottage we've ever stayed in. April made us feel so welcome when we arrived, with the fire lit, warm scones on the table and freshly baked bread ready to eat. The cottage was cosy, spotlessly clean and totally charming. Every room is beautifully furnished and the little added extras like freshly cut flowers and chocolates on the bed added to the whole experience. The double bed was extremely comfortable with feather pillows and extra blankets and we slept really well. The power shower was invigorating and the Wi-Fi was excellent but you still felt like you'd stepped back in time in this wonderful cottage. Situated a few miles outside Ballycastle was ideal for us as we love the quiet of the countryside but it's close enough to the town to be there within minutes. We were looking for a relaxing, restful weekend and that's exactly what we got. My only regret is that we didn't stay longer, but we'll definitely be back.

Jan 19 "Absolutely superb"

We chose The Bothy simply because of the many brilliant reviews left by other people who had stayed here. We were not disappointed, the accommodation is absolutely perfect and the owners could not have been more friendly or helpful. To arrive to a beautiful wood burning stove roaring away and be greeted with warm scones cream and jams was simply wonderful, not to mention the many basics provided such as milk, bread, marmalade etc. It is also superbly located to enable easy trips to the many tourist attractions and the local town (Ballycastle) is blessed with several fine pubs serving up excellent food and drinks. What a wonderful way to spend a week over the New Year break, totally enchanting and restful.

April provides a masterclass in how to treat guests and to ensure that they are happy and relaxed. Although we try to avoid returning to places that we have already been to we will definitely make an exception in this case. Can’t wait to book again.

Dec 18 Hidden Gem ..."

Wonderful cottage tucked away near the coast. A lovely, homely warm welcome by April the owner on our arrival. Stepping inside the cottage to be greeted by a cosy, warm fire, afternoon tea with homemade scones & essentials was perfect after a long drive. Beautifully furnished and a real home from home feel. If your looking for a relaxing break, with Giants Causeway etc nearby then this cottage is a must for you. Looking forward to revisting this hidden gem again .... ☺ Please do read the reviews regarding "The Bothy Cottage" from other happy travellers who have stayed here too."

Oct 18 " Beautiful Bothy!!"

Just perfect. The weather was gloomy and damp, inside was cosy and comfy!! Such a beautiful part of the coastline- stunning scenery and walks - cosy accommodation waiting at the end. The afternoon tea was a gorgeous treat along with freshly baked bread, marmalade and various other treats!! April was very welcoming and helpful!! A very relaxing break. We hope to return and explore some more of the coastline very soon!! Thanks so much. Xx

Oct 18 "relaxing get-away"

There's no shortage of things do within a short drive, but the greatest pleasure comes from snuggling up by the fire in this tasteful cottage, which has been fitted out to a high standard. A homely sitting room with efficient log-burner, a surprisingly well-equipped kitchen that makes self-catering a pleasure, and comfy, cosy, bedrooms all combine to make you want to stay in. It's exceptionally quiet and certainly the place to go for those wanting to get away from it all and have a deep and uninterrupted night's sleep. Service from the owners was excellent - very friendly, thoughtful, and responsive to requests and suggestions.

Oct 18 "A first class holiday rental."

We have just spent a week in the delightful Bothy. Such a peaceful, warm, comfortable cottage. The owners were away when we arrived, but we were warmly welcomed by Susan. We have nothing negative to say about the cottage and endorse all the lovely comments already made. We particularly appreciated the great welcome pack of foodstuffs that greeted us! Yummy! Neil and April returned during our stay and they are delightful people. So welcoming! Got some ideas for soft furnishings for a bedroom from April's amazing knowledge! She is a very creative lady. Indeed, both she and Neil have done a great job on this property. We hope to return sometime.

Oct 18 "Fantastic!!!"

Spent a fantastic week in the lovely cottage! The cottage is very well equipped and has everything you could possibly need and more. The garden is super! Convenient location and great hosts! We would definitely stay here again and would recommend it to anyone visiting the area.

Sep 18 "A lovely place to stay"

My wife and I stayed for a week in this lovely characterful cottage. It has all the facilities you could want and was very quiet. There were a lot of extras which we weren't expecting including welcome afternoon tea, fresh eggs, homemade marmalade, firewood for the log burner, toiletries etc. It is very convenient for the north coast with its wonderful scenery and coastal footpath. The beds were very comfortable and it was great to have instant hot water and modern central heating. Whatever the weather, this was a great place to come home to.

Sep 18 "this is a perfect place to stay for a relaxing holiday."

The cottage is in a beautiful location, the garden is lovely. Close to the Antrim coast. The Giants Causeway and Carrick-a-Rede Rope Bridge. Really cosy cottage, beautifully furnished, tea and scones plus the eggs and marmalade were really welcome. Hope to visit again in the near future.

Aug 18 "Wonderful home-base for visiting Northern Ireland"

The Bothy was the perfect place for our family of four (13 and 10 year old) to stay while exploring the many sites along the north coast of Northern Ireland. The Bothy is beautifully decorated, very comfortable, and complete with everything you would need (loaded kitchen, great shower, wood-burning stove, it even has a back garden with plenty of room for kids to play). The owners were lovely and went out of their to make our stay pleasant.

Two small items to point out to anyone interested in staying here. First, it is not in a location where you can walk to anything. You will need to drive everywhere. And second, the Bothy does have a TV, ingeniously tucked out of the way behind a small door; however, it is a small TV. Nice picture, plenty of channels, DVD player, but just small. Not a problem for us, but I just wanted to point this out as I think expectations about TVs are big these days.

I highly recommend the Bothy at Balnaholish to a couple, a small family, or a solo traveler who wants a cozy place to call home while visiting Northern Ireland.

Aug 18 "Wonderful place to escape"

We had a fabulous stay here. The cottage is beautifully presented with everything you could possibly need and is in a peaceful location with a wonderful garden. The little touches - cut flowers, houseplants and the delicious scones and wheaten bread on arrival - make this a really special place to stay. (I almost want to keep it a secret!) It is comfortable and cosy and we felt at home straight away. We were blessed with mostly fantastic weather and were visiting family so spent our days mostly out and about, but the Bothy would be a wonderful retreat to hunker down in if less favourable weather conditions prevailed! DVDs, games and a cosy fire - perfect. Thanks to April for everything - and thank you for supplying the children with the outdoor toys! They can’t wait to return!

Aug 18 "Comfortable and cosy cottage"

The cottage was the perfect location to explore the causeway coast. It was within easy driving reach of stunning coastlines and cities for shopping. The cottage had everything we needed. When we arrived in the pouring rain, April greeted us with a fire and a table laid out with an afternoon tea- scones, jam, cream as well as homemade marmalade, bread, eggs, and milk. It was a truly lovely way to start our week at the cottage. This is a fantastically equipped place to stay. The shower was amazing with its double heads and the beds were very comfortable. The cottage had a lovely ambiance with its carefully chosen antiques and decor. If there was anything we needed, April did not hesitate to help out. I highly recommend this true gem.

Aug 18 "Another great trip to the Bothy"

This was our 4th visit to the Bothy. Everything was as expected with standards extremely high throughout. The kids loved playing in the garden and the adults loved sitting in front of the log fire in the evening. This is the ideal holiday let for 4 persons who want easy access to the North Coast and all it’s attractions. It also provides a relaxing atmosphere if you just want to switch off and enjoy the rural setting. We will know doubt return for the fifth time as you will not find anywhere better.

Jul 18 "Great place to stay"

This is 5 miles from Ballycastle, NI. For those of you with Game of Thrones in mind, it is 5 minutes form the 'Dark Hedges' which is the Kings Road in the series. Decor was in period keeping with this old-style Irish cottage, which has been modernised inside to include all mod cons. The hosts provided lots of things to get you started with self catering, such as cream tea on arrival, milk and orange juice in fridge, oil, salt and pepper, tea and coffee in larder making the stay much easier. The location is quiet. You can access the Northern Coast with Giants Causeway and Bushmills distillery from here. We would recommend this to others.

Apr 18 "Fantastic cosy cottage"

What a beautiful cottage the Bothy is, we could not have wished for more in an absolutely idilic location. Everything to enjoy on the North coast is just on your doorstep. And the welcome from April was fantastic, cosy fire and afternoon tea what a lovely touch. Thanks for a lovely stay, we will definitely be back soon.

Apr 18 "Home from Home"

Our third stay in this beautiful cottage. April and Neil are amazing hosts with a real eye for detail. We stayed in the days running up to Easter, daffodils in every room and chocolate bunnies left for our two daughters. It really is a special hideaway and we look forward to returning in the near future. Would thoroughly recommend this property, home from home luxury x

Apr 18 "Beautiful cottage"

A really lovely cottage, tastefully presented. Peaceful and quiet, I slept well. The stove was a delight to come home to after a day’s walking and the cottage is warm and cosy.

April is a most welcoming host and I enjoyed the wheaten bread, cake ... and more! Highly recommend.

Mar 18 "A truly wonderful place to stay"

We consider ourselves very lucky to have found this charming cottage which has a finesse rarely found in self-catering properties. The attention to detail is immediately obvious from the welcoming homemade scones to the modern shower unit. Within easy reach of the beautiful Antrim coast and Glens, this is an ideal base ... but don't take our word for it, go and experience it for yourselves.

Mar 18 "Lovely"

We had a great weekend. Very well looked after and the cottage was beautiful. There was lots to do in the area with great restaurants and cafes.

Feb 18 "Beautiful, cosy cottage"

Just home after our first, but certainly not our last stay at this beautiful cottage. Our hosts made us so welcome and the place was so clean, warm and comfortable we did not want to leave. Absolutely everything was supplied, we could not have wished for more.

Feb 18 "Perfection"

Just returned from our 6th stay at this charming cottage, my 3 year old summed it up when I asked her where she wanted to live, "the boffy" her reply. This place cannot be faulted if you want peace and quiet with all the comforts of home. April and Neil have every detail covered and keep the place immaculate. If you want to stay in self catering on the north coast this is a must

Jan 18 "New years eve long weekend"

Had the most wonderful stay here for a long weekend over New Years. The bed was incredibly comfortable, the shower was luxury and powerful, the wood burning stove was very cosy, kitchen was very well equipped and the central heating was modern and very effective! Beautiful in every way!

Jan 18 "Homely Upmarket Cottage"

A beautifully converted barn with an upmarket yet homely feel. Thank you to the hosts who make you feel so at home and welcome. It's located in idyllic countryside, with only a short drive to multiple beaches and places to explore. One of my favourite holidays.

Jan 18 "Perfection"

A beautiful Bothy; lovely local area; wonderfully hospitable hosts and the most fantastic place to wave goodbye to 2017 and see in 2018. Many thanks to April and Neil!

Oct 17 "Cosy and warm in the Bothy"

Most friendly and delicious welcome we have ever had. Cottage v comfy clean warm and cosy. Lots of helpful and interesting information around Location ideal as a hub for exploring Every cooking implement under the sun. If there was one thing to make it better for me (and this seems a bit churlish) it was that there was so much stuff In cupboards and on shelves there was almost no room for our food stocks There were 4 teapots of different sizes for example But come on it was brilliant!!!

Oct 17 "Everything it is advertised to be."

We have just completed an eight night stay at the Bothy. The Bothy is everything it is advertised to be. The place is neat, clean, tidy, cozy, and perfectly located for day tips around the Antrim Coast. It has everything you could possibly need for a comfortable stay. Although it was not necessary, April and Neil were readily available in case of need. We would definitely recommend it and will stay there again if we get back to Northern Ireland.

Sep 17 "One of the very best holiday rentals we have stayed in."

The Bothy will delight you. Afternoon tea was waiting for us when we arrived, freshly made scones with raspberry jam and clotted cream which was a great start to our Northern Irish holiday. The beds were extra comfy and the Bothy with its no fuss white walls, chintzy furnishings and very well appointed kitchen gave us everything we needed. The coastline is spectacular and we didn't see a crowd anywhere! Wide sandy beaches were safe and easily accessible and from a cliff top, one was home to a herd of cows where their grazing ran down to the sea..... The Giants Causeway is volcanic, Basaltic rock which was mined around here and exported from the now picture book harbours, to be fashioned into road setts. The local town is Ballycastle where small shops will have everything you need. At Portrush on the coast, there is a very good Italian owned restaurant with the most amazing puddings you will ever see. Our hosts at The Bothy were April and Neil Salisbury who could not have been more welcoming and helpful. Altogether it was one of our best holidays. Do go!Sep 17 "Idyllic cottage, amazing hosts, superb location"

Our second visit to this property and will definitely visit it again. The cottage is quaint and pristine, it is home from home and a hidden gem on the North Antrim Coast. April and Neil are perfect hosts and the cottage is a credit to them. We were welcomed yet again with delicious homemade wheaten bread, scones and biscuits. The homemade marmalade is amazing and a perfect complement to the wheaten bread. Thank you April and Neil for making us so feel so welcome and for letting us stay in your wonderful cottage.

Sep 17 "Cosy, relaxing cottage with magical garden for exploring"

We had a wonderful stay at the Bothy. April was so inviting & the cream tea was delicious. The cottage was beautifully decorated & so charming. The garden was a great place for our 4 year old to explore & look for fairies. A great place to stay & explore the North Coast & the lovely town of Ballycastle. We will definitely be back.

Sep 17 "A relaxing stay in a gorgeous location"

Stayed with friends at The Bothy. Lovely place - couldn't recommend highly enough. Great welcome from April. The weather was bad, but it really didn't matter. Perfect relaxing break.

Aug 17 "A relaxing haven @ The Bothy"

We are so pleased we chose to stay at the Bothy. It is a very well equipped cottage in a fantastic location for exploring Northern Ireland. Everything was perfect when we clean and welcoming. Easy to find as good directions had been given beforehand. A good sized cottage with lovely welcoming owners. Hope to stay here again in the future.

Aug 17 "Traditional Irish cottage"

Located just outside Ballycastle a great location for touring. The hosts Neil and April have created a little piece of Paradise, somewhere to relax and chill out. The attention to detail is amazing with you needs anticipated and met. Take a wish and your needs will be granted. A place you will want to revisit.

Aug 17 "Wonderful cottage, and fantastic hosts"

If you are thinking of visiting Northern Ireland then the Bothy at Balnaholish is the perfect place to stay. The cottage is full of character, with a large country garden, superbly furnished throughout with importantly very comfortable beds. The kitchen and bathroom are also of the highest standard. It's a credit to the owners Neil and April. Talking of whom, Neil and April both did a wonderful job of making you feel at home right away and they provided us with lots of invaluable advice. The cottage is in a great location just outside of Ballycastle and within easy reach of all the sites and attractions along the Antrim coast. In short we had a fantastic time and look forward to returning.

Aug 17 "Ein toller Urlaub"

Vielen Dank, liebe April!

Jul 17 "Gorgeous holiday cottage"

The Bothy @ Balnaholish was a perfect place to stay for our trip to the causeway coast. April was there on our arrival with a lovely welcome and a homemade cream tea! A well appointed cottage with everything we needed and well situated for visiting the local sites. Thanks April & Neil

Jun 17 "Won't disappoint"

We booked The Bothy because of the excellent reviews on Tripadvisor and we were delighted to see that it lived up to all the praise. Decor, furnishings and equipment were all high quality, beds were very comfortable and it was lovely to have a fire ready for us to light as the evenings were rather cool for June. All the welcoming touches of fresh baked scones, bread and home -made preserves as well as staples such as milk, butter and eggs were much appreciated. It was a great place to stay while exploring the wonderful North Antrim coast.

May 17 "Beautiful set cottage with child enchanting Garden. Wonderful 5*"

Well where do I start... So many lovely things. Neil the owner, He is a true gentleman and a great host, anything we needed he was able to supply. Went out of his way to make our stay an absolute pleasure. His attention to detail and the whole project of building this unique cottage was just perfect. He and April left nothing out of the wonderful job they have done to make the living experience in the Bothy just perfect. We were met by Neil on arrival who showed us around. The Bothy was a great size, plenty of room for our 2 young kids, a 3 1/2 year old and a 2 year old. Perfect for kids.they loved every minute and were sad to go home. Every room was finished beautifully and we had a lovely Lindt chocolate each and chocolates for the kids waiting on our beds. A cream tea, fridge with all the basics, milk eggs, fruit, a cupboard stocked with essentials like tea, coffee, cereal and many more. The homemade Wheaton bread and cream tea was a delight. Oh and the home made jam too. They even had a small selection of toys for the kids which was great. The rooms were very comfortable and the kids settled very well throughout our stay. The bathroom had a wonderful shower and was very refreshing after the very hot days we experienced during our stay. Neil was great and provided some out door toys for the kids to play around on in the front yard area, where his lovely dog Lucy played happily with the kids. He also went out of his way and got a paddling pool out for the kids who really enjoyed that. The garden was a delight, it was an expedition and a true wonder for our children and made it feel light they were explorers in a forest for them. It was very well done with again Neil having gone to all the hard work of maintaining it to a very high standard, kept wild too to give a very appealing county garden feel. The kids had a great time running around, hiding and having fun. Again the attention to detail and plants and trees were a delight to look at. The bird life was great too with many varieties of birds. We will be booking this again in the future and hopefully again next year if possible. Thank you Neil and April for giving us such a great experience we will never forget.

May 17 "Couldn't be more perfect!"

The cottage was in a very quiet location with beautiful gardens. The cottage itself was perfect for us as a family. More than fully equipped and importantly very clean. Owner very helpful and friendly. Ideal location for exploring the coastline. Would definitely recommend and would definitely stay again. Thanks for a lovely couple of nights.

May 17 "Warm onthaal in The Bothy"

Apr 17 "Perfect in every way"

This was our second visit to the Bothy and it was just as perfect as the last time. We stayed for 7 nights this time and we had such a fantastic holiday. The Bothy has everything and more you need in a self catering unit. It is perfectly located for exploring the area and is the perfect place to chill out and relax.. The visit to Island of Raithlin was definitely recommended. April and Neil were the ideal hosts as before and nothing was too much trouble. We were sorry when it was time to leave but we are already planning a return visit next year.

Apr 17 "Well located, countryside retreat"

The Bothy was well situated for trips to the giant's causeway, Bushmills distillery, Glenariff and the coast. It was possible and affordable to get a taxi to the distillery and also to the town of Portrush where we went for a lovely meal one night at Ramore. The Bothy itself had a fantastically well kitted-out kitchen which is rare in self-catering places that we've stayed in. Everything we needed was there plus a delightful cream tea on arrival. What a lovely touch! April, Neil and Lucy (the Labrador) were friendly and there if needed but also didn't encroach on us at all. The Bothy was cosy and comfy and offered a perfect base from which to explore. The shower was another highlight, lovely and powerful and hot!

Mar 17 "Well located, countryside retreat"

It was an absolute delight to stay in The Bothy. The cottage was so cosy and totally relaxing and the décor was just perfect. The kitchen in particular was very well equipped and all those little extra touches such as wheaten bread, scones, jam, cream etc were much appreciated (thank you April) and it was lovely to sit by the woodburning fire and chill. We both look forward to returning again to The Bothy.

Mar 17 "Lovely and cosy"

My husband and I were looking for a little place in the countryside to spend a couple of nights as part of a birthday celebration, and the Bothy turned out to be the perfect location. It exceeded our hopes and expectations. April's welcoming touches were delightful, and we really enjoyed our stay. The weather was terrible, but the Bothy was cosy and we were glad to be indoors. It felt like a little home rather than a holiday house.

Mar 17 "Simply stunning!"

This cottage is simply stunning! Every detail is to the highest standard. The scones jam and cream on arrival, the homemade wheaten bread and marmalade are superb. Words cannot really do this cottage justice, has to be visited to fully appreciate. April is a fantastic host. Hopefully the first of many trips to 'The Bothy' !!

Mar 17 "Mrs"

The cottage is so cosy and April has thought of every detail . The welcome pack and fire lite on.arrival are so thoughtful. The setting is perfect for a relaxing break and the cottage is a great place to unwind with friends or family, I will certainly be recommending it to others and hope to return with my family again 😊

Mar 17 "Stunning property"

Wow, what a beautiful place, the pictures don't do this place justice, and the host was very helpful and really went the extra mile to ensure the stay was perfect. Little extra touches like the arrival basket, really add to the magic of the place, couldn't recommend it more.

Mar 17 "Charming Cottage in Excellent Location"

The Bothy' was our first ever stay in self-catering style accommodation whilst on overseas travel and it would be safe to say that we lucked out completely. The place was charming, clean and very well equipped. The booking process seamless and our host April was there to meet us and had the place so cosy warm with the fire already lit and a lovely welcome greeting of some tasty home baking. We were then left to our own devices to explore Northern Ireland during our six days proving that this was also a top location to do so from. Ballycastle was just a few miles down the road with great pubs and restaurants offering impressive food choices. On leaving it had snowed the night before and indeed was still snowing heavily when April helped us with removing the snow from our car. Coming from Western Australia where to don't get snow she must of taken pitty on us!!!

Jan 17 "Home away from Home!"

Our stay at the Bothy was far too short and we hope to return someday! The cozy cottage was impeccable and the location was perfect to say the least! It was a lovely retreat to always come back to after a day spend in the Irish fresh air! April was so kind and generous. She paid special attention to our daughter by having a doll house for her, which she just loved. Our daughter would often say... "I just love this home papa and mama" my wife and I could not agree more! Don't pass up an opportunity to stay at the Bothy, sadly you will be missing out if you do :)

Nov 16 "Still just as good!!"

We first stayed at the Bothy about three years ago just after it had opened. Back then we thought that the standards were extremely high and that the value for the price was incredible. Surely, we thought, the owner April won't be able to maintain this kind of standards over time... Well, we were mistaken. Nothing has changed. Visitors still enjoy an incredible welcome pack with scones, marmalade, wood and turf for the fire, etc... Also, visitors are still free to use the dishwasher, washing machine, and the kitchen is still perfectly well equipped. The peace out there is wonderful. April and her husband are great hosts. Within 2 minutes of a power cut, they were over apologising (seriously(!)... hardly their fault!!) bringing loads of candles, gas lights, etc... Anyway, I could write pages about it. In short: don't miss it, it's a wonderful place, you won't be disappointed.

Nov 16 "A charming little cottage that will leave you wanting to return."

Stayed at The Bothy with my wife & friends for 3 nights. We arrived on a cold frosty night to a hearty fire & delicious home baked scones. Each room was lit with lamps & looked so cozy, within minutes of arriving you felt relaxed. There isn't one thing that April has missed to make this charming cottage a little gem, from beautiful painted furniture, fresh flowers ,beautiful colour schemes in the bedrooms ,all the goodies in the kitchen & fridge, nothing has been forgotten. Anyone who visits will most certainly want to return. Well done April & thank you, we so enjoyed our stay, as did our friends & we look forward to seeing you again soon.

Nov 16 "I'm still in awe!"

My son, his father and I came to the Bothy after my parents visited here several years ago. When we arrived, I was actually shocked. The fire was lit for us, the kettle boiled, April had laid out a tea set with scones and we had fresh wheaten and home made marmalade, eggs and oats in the kitchen! Funny, too, that my son's father realised he had bought smooth orange juice by accident instead of orange juice with bits; and when we opened the fridge we saw there was a large bottle already waiting! Utterly perfect! There wasn't a single speck of dust in the whole place, and the bottles of water in the bedrooms were so cute. April had even gone to the effort of setting out a basket with toys in it for my son (they were even age appropriate because he's only one). I'm just blown away by the hospitality and it's probably the best I've ever had (and I've been to some of the best hotels in the U.K.). We cannot wait to return with our little boy and cannot thank April enough for such a wonderful experience that has created beautiful memories for us both. I thought I'd attach a picture of my son in front of the fire in his own mini chair that April provided (and a lightsaber). Absolutely amazing place and I could not recommend it enough!

Nov 16 "Beauty, Peace, Comfort - AMAZING"

The cottage is a thing of beauty. Every room is extremely comfortable (the bed is heaven, the outside area beautiful, the garden amazing, the kitchen has everything you need and more, the fireplace and living room sooo cozy, the bathroom supercute) We absolutely loved every bit about being here. April was amazing providing lovely scones, tea, orange juice, fresh eggs, a cozy fire on arrival!!! It could not have been better. If you are looking to escape life and retreat into comfort and beauty, come to the Bothy! Thank you for our lovely stay, we will definitely be back!!!! :)

Nov 16 "A Perfect Haven"

An amazing little gem in Co.Antrim - April and Neil were fantastic hosts, we were greeted with a beautiful log fire, homemade scones with fresh jam and cream and the kettle on - what more could one ask for - oh yes, the fantastic homemade wheaten bread and marmalade. Every little detail was taken care of to the utmost degree, the beds were the most comfortable that I have ever slept on, the whole Bothy was amazing, the garden was magical and I can't wait to return here, would thoroughly recommend The Bothy. Thank you April and Neil for making our stay so wonderful x

Sep 16 "Perfect and peaceful haven"

We stayed at the bothy for 4 nights and the cottage met and exceeded our expectations. What a welcome from April and family with the table ready for tea and cream scones. there was everything needed for self catering and more including lovely touches of home made bread, fresh flowers and chocolates on the bed. Such a peaceful haven with a very comfortable bed ensured we left relaxed and revived. The cottage is ideally situated to explore the beautiful part of Northern Ireland. We did not manage to see everywhere so we will be returning soon and the bothy will be first choice. Highly recommend to anyone wanting a peaceful break in a cottage full of history.

Aug 16 "Another fantastic stay at The Bothy"

The Bothy offers superb accommodation in tranquil surroundings. This was our 3rd visit as a family of 4 (kids 5+ 8 years) and as expected it was perfect in every way. I have reviewed the Bothy before and all that I can say is well done April and Neil for maintaining impeccably high standards year in year out. Nothing can be faulted with this accommodation thanks for your hospitality and we look forward to our next visit.

Aug 16 "A wonderful cottage"

I cannot recommend this cottage highly enough . It was perfect . The cottage was s well equipped . Often in self catering you get the minimum one saucepan , one frying pan . Here you got a fully equipped kitchen . There was even an apron left . We arrived as other people said to scones , cream all beautifully set on the cute dining room table . We were left eggs , juice , butter , milk , bread , marmalade , cereal , tea , coffee , sugar . All the basics . This was nice as we did not have to rush out shopping . The cottage is very warm , very pretty and very comfortable . All I can say I agree with everything other people have said .

Aug 16 "Excellent"

We stayed in the Bothy as a family. It provided a very comfortable base for our holiday exploring the Antrim coast. It was well equipped and the attention to detail made it feel like a real home from home. There was a lovely welcome, making us feel right a home straight away. We would use the Bothy again without hesitation. The location is great, we found it ideal for exploring the various attractions of the area - and there are plenty!

Jul 16 "Brilliant base to explore Northern Ireland"

After a long journey it was wonderful to be greeted by April to our wonderful cottage. The welcome touches were fabulous, homemade bread, marmalade, muesli not to mention eggs, butter and freshly cut flowers. The cottage is beautifully equipped and the beds so comfortable. A lovely cottage which we will return to.

Jun 16 "Everything anyone could wish for"

The Bothy is extremely well equipped to a high standard. The double bed is very comfortable with lovely soft pillows. Our welcome pack included fresh eggs, home made scones and home made bread. The situation is very pretty with plenty of bird life and even a hare in the wooded garden. Heaven.

Apr 16 "Beautiful homely cottage"

We stayed at The Bothy for a short break in April. Absolutely delightful. Cottage is homely and very comfortable. Lovely log burner that makes for a cosy evening. TV , DVDs and Wifi if required. The kitchen is stocked with everything you would need. Beautiful rear garden to use. Double bed really comfy. The additional touches of scones, cream and jam on arrival along with home baked bread, eggs and homemade marmalade were a welcome additions. Friendly welcoming host who had thought of everything for a relaxing break. Thank you. We will be back.

Mar 16 "Fabulous place!"

We have stayed in many cottages but this one is by far the best from the point of view of attention to details. We arrived at the cottage, greeted by a welcome fire, and a kitchen of goodies (scones, jam, cereal, eggs, wheaten bread). Each bed has a set of soft towels and a lindt chocolate ball. The owner lives nearby and seems to treat the cottage as a project of love. A wonderful place to stay.

Mar 16 "Superb cottage"

Recently stayed at The Bothy for a midweek break. Everything you could possibly need was catered for. From the welcome pack to the freshly baked scones on arrival. Beautiful clean cottage. Will definitely return. Would highly recommend it.

Feb 16 "Fabulous!"

Simply gorgeous cottage, ideal for that perfect weekend away! Beautiful interior and spotlessly clean. Lovely hospitality in form of home-made wheaten bread and marmalade. Also yummy afternoon cream tea on arrival! We would go back at the drop of a hat. Such a super find!Feb 16 “A little piece of heaven”

A most charming little cottage just 4 miles from Ballycastle. We stayed here for a week with our 11 month old daughter. Our host April has everything catered for here even down to supplying a changing mat. The place is spotless inside and the attention to detail is second to none. We have stayed in a number of other similar cottages in the past but this one wins hands down. Fresh bread on arrival and the fire lit, can't be faulted

Jan 16 “Family Party”

Very warm welcome from April on arrival, excellent accommodation and location despite the snow when we arrived. Highly recommend this cottage and would quite happily stay again in the future.

Jan 16 “A total gem of a cottage that everyone should experience at least once!”

My wife and I stayed in The Bothy with our 2 boys (aged 4 & 2) as a treat to ourselves after Christmas was ruined due to illness. The weekend stay at the Bothy easily helped us all get over the Christmas blues and we had one of the best, most relaxing, enjoyable weekends we can remember. The boys were entertained with the games, dvds and books which were available and we had access to wifi for their tablets. The lit log fire and the scones and wheaten on arrival set the tone for the weekend. The cottage is warm, clean, and cosy with everything done to a very high spec. The beds are the most comfortable I have EVER slept in and my 2 yr old son agrees as he slept all night both nights (something he neglects to do at home)! There is a very special feeling in this cottage and I can only advise anyone looking for somewhere to stay in this area to book it quick, you will have no regrets. We have recommended this cottage to all our friends and family and will definitely be back again soon.

29 Dec 15 “Christmas at the Bothy”

We have stayed at the Bothy in May, and my review is the same as before, everything you need, a friendly welcome with tea, scones, cream and jam. The log fire lit, everything you need for a cold day. The cottage is spotless and has everything you need for modern day comforts. I would recommend to anyone.

25 Nov 15  “A great place for a quiet getaway”

Just a few words about our stay at the Bothy. We met April our host as we arrived at the self catering cottage for our weekend getaway. April was very polite and showed us around the accommodation to help familiarize us with the facilities. On arrival, April had set out for us a lovely creamed tea, consisting of, tea, scones, jam, butter and cream. The most amazing wheaten bread and homemade marmalade was also waiting for us in the kitchen. First impressions of the Bothy from the outside was its traditional old world charm. A whitewashed cottage which at one time would have been a very familiar site throughout this part of county Antrim. Inside, it was clean, tidy and very homely. The cottage is set well off the main road so it was quiet and peaceful throughout our stay. In the main living room there was a wood burning stove which had plenty of wood and turf for us to use. It was nice to be able to sit there in the evening and snuggle up by the fire. The kitchen facilities were more than sufficient, and we were able to cook our meals without hassle. We had hot water on tap and the shower was a powerful overhead type, which was especially useful after our long walks along the north Antrim coast. All in all, we could not have asked for a more charming place to rest our weary heads for a couple of nights. We had a lovely time at the Bothy and look forward to our return with great anticipation.

23 Nov 15 “A real find - a true treasure.”

Having driven through sleet and snow, to arrive to a roaring log fire, fresh flowers and home made scones was the perfect welcome to our all too short stay at The Bothy. The cottage comfortably accommodated 2 adults and 2 teens and has been thoughtfully and extremely tastefully restored to provide a perfect retreat. There is everything you could possibly need provided and it is in a superb location to explore the North Antrim coast and beyond. The welcome pack is one of the most generous we have ever come across and was especially welcome as time had not allowed for us to stop at a supermarket en route so it was wonderful to have the breakfast essentials provided. Would definitely recommend to others and fully intend to return for a longer stay asap.

5 Nov 15 “Fantastic - a little bit if heaven on the North Coast.”

I have travelled and stayed in similar type accommodation all over Ireland and by far this is the best site yet. Four star rating fully deserved , from initial greeting , to log fire fully on and table brimming with home baked delights. Comfort and cleanliness of accommodation and sheer wonderful humble hosts. It was a delight to stay and share in the homeliness of this wonderful accommodation. I had taken my elderly parents for a well deserved mini break, and we all came away fully refreshed , well rested and delighted with or holiday. The site is very centrally positioned to tour all the wonderful scenic views and surrounded by a host of great warm and extremely friendly people. April and Neill congratulations on such a wonderful site , your enthusiasm and love for what you do makes the stay just perfect.

1 Nov 15 Great cottage and a friendly welcome”

The Bothy is a great choice for your stay. We had a very warm welcome, good advice on things to do and a really useful guide to local amenities. The cottage itself is lovely and very well cared for. The beds are good, kitchen nice to work in and bathroom of a very good standard.

It has a lovely wood burner and we were provided with a stock of peat and wood. When we arrived the fire had been lit and there were fresh, home made, scones, bread and a good supply of eggs.

I would throughly recommend The Bothy for a holiday or short visit.

15 Oct 15 “RETREAT”

The Bothy was a lovely quiet step back in time in a beautiful scenic location surrounded by stunning walks and wildlife and peace and quiet and privacy. This was just what we were hoping for and that is what we got.Thankyou April and Neil and the lovely Lucy for everything it was a delight to be at the Bothy :-)3 May 15 “May Day at the Bothy”

30 Sep 15 “The best cottage in all of Ireland”

I have stayed at many self-catering around Ireland, by far the Bothy has spoiled me. My daughter Shannon and I found the Bothy to be this wonderful experience. Neil and April are there to welcome you, Fresh scones, bread, butter, jam, marmalade, eggs, milk, and cream. Which were the "bomb" as the kids in America say. Lol. Neil and April cater to your every need. The soft towels, the bed clothes, all beautiful. You need only bring your clothes, everything else is in the cottage. And I mean everything. An awesome stay. The whole history of the cottage, and the way it has been restored, simply amazing. All in all a lovely stay. Thank you Neil and April, Melodye and Shannon

29 Sep 15 “A must stay and a must return!”

This is the most amazing rental I have ever stayed in. It was much better than the photos and it looks great in those. It is very quiet and peaceful, very comfy and charmingly decorated. Everything you could want is there including a non-slip mat for the tub. The landlords are very nice and helpful and have a Black Lab named Lucy who took care of my need for Lab hugs. There is a garden you can wander in that includes a bar-b-que, table and seating. The location is perfect for the Northern Ireland coastal area and everything is very close. If you want to travel farther, Derry and Belfast are just an hour away. It doesn't get any better than this and deserves far more than 5 stars. The WiFi worked great - this was nice especially in a rural setting.A charming little cottage in the middle of the country near to all local attractions. The cottage is in beautiful condition was spotless a warm welcome of homemade scones, wheaten bread, homemade jam and cream was waiting on our arrival. April was very friendly and nothing was to much trouble for her. The cottage was quaint with its own large garden and well off the road. The interior was to a traditional character but with all the modern amenities and a proper working Wi Fi. A true 5 star hotel in a cottage, would stay again and recommend to family and friends.

15 Sep 15 “Warming, cosy, idyllic”

We loved our stay at the Bothy. After a long trip, arriving to freshly made scones and bread, and the best marmalade we'd tasted in years was heartwarming. The cottage is beautiful and peaceful, and April and Neil were so welcoming. Thanks, if we come back to Northern Ireland, we will definitely be looking to stay at the Bothy again23 Apr 15 “Absolute Perfection”

4 Aug 15 “Delightful cottage”

Had a lovely week in this delightful cottage. April and Neil were splendid hosts and have created a gem of a cottage in the Bothy. It is in a peaceful setting but very handy for the Causeway Coast and all that it has to offer. The beds and bedding deserve special mention, of a very high standard and extremely comfortable. The welcoming scones were delicious and we took the opportunity to light the wood burner a couple of times, just took the evening chill off the air and made the living room even cosier. Highly recommended. This really is the perfect holiday rental! The cottage is close enough to the main visitor attractions in the area - Giant's Causeway, Bushmills, Ballycastle & Rathlin Island, and the Dark Hedges, but is quiet and tranquil: a beautiful base for exploration of Northern Ireland. The windows overlook a woodland garden with birds singing and eating from the birdfeeder.

29 Jul 15 “Simply superb”

Myself, my wife and our two boys (aged 2 & 4) stayed here for a week – it was excellent in every way. We received a very warm welcome from the owner April who went way above the levels of care and attention you would expect from a self catering supplier. We where greeting to fresh scones and home made bread which was amazing (thank you). The house itself is stunning, the photos although excellent don't do it justice – it has been restored with love and an attention to detail that is a real credit to April and Neil, very warm and comfortable – we where able to make ourself at home straight away. The kids loved the forested meadow out back – April had left them toys (again thank you). Its the perfect spot to explore the north. We stayed for 4 nights, but I could quite happily have moved in - the beds were possibly the comfiest I have ever slept in (mine at home felt quite inadequate afterwards), the shower hot, and the kitchen full of yummy snacks; we arrived to freshly-made scones which were lighter than air, homemade bread, milk, butter, eggs and a roaring log burner. There were fresh flowers in every room!

20 July 15 “Idyllic cottage”

The bothy was everything we expected it to be and more. We arrived on a cold wet windy day to be met by the owner. When we entered the cottage we were met with a warming log fire. The table was set with fresh baked bread , scones and Jam. It is perfactly situated for visiting all the tourist attractions in the area. The back garden which was for our use was a bird watchers paradise. The only down side was we only had a week.

17 July 15 “The perfect home away from home!!”

We stayed at The Bothy for two weeks in June with our small boys and it was wonderful. April and Neil were wonderful hosts and went out of their way to make sure we had everything we needed and more to make our stay very comfortable. The cottage was super cozy and clean. The beds were super comfortable and we all had wonderful sleeps while there. We couldn't have asked for a better, more lovely place to come home to every evening after a day of sight seeing. I would definitely recommend The Bothy to anyone.

Thank you again April and Neil!! We have spoken often of The Bothy and will always remember fondly the hospitality you showed us while we were visiting.

PS - The homemade scones and the lit fireplace was such a wonderfully warm welcome after our very long, long journey.

11 June 15 “Fantastic place to stay”

Only had 2 nights here but could have stayed a month. Best bed we had on a 3 week trip, the owner was so friendly and helpful, and the cottage has everything you would need. Don't need to say much more really, if you get the chance just book it.

30 May 15 “Friendly, charming cottage”

Cosy cottage a few miles outside Ballycastle. It's been recently renovated so the fittings, décor and furniture are of a high standard. There's a good mixture of modern (wifi, well equipped kitchen) with tradition (log and peat burning stove). Big garden, easy parking and safe for children. The family that own The Bothy live on the same plot, and are very welcoming and manage the bookings in a professional manner.

It is an easy to drive to the sites on the Antrim coast. We visited with two small children and it was a perfect size for us.

27 May 15 “Fantastic”

fantastic place to stay for a self catering cottage in Ireland. Off the main road, very quiet. Home cooked bread, marmalade, scones, jam and cream on arrival. Lovely back area to explore. Close to a lot of main tourist points in Northern Ireland. Would recommend this to any one for a beautiful, peaceful stay in Northern Ireland

11 May 15 “Beautiful country cottage, everything down to the last detail was perfect.”

Me and my boyfriend really enjoyed our stay in this little cottage. After a long drive it was lovely to arrive to a lit stove and homemade scones and jam by the owner April. She has thought of everything you could possibly need for your stay and the decor of the cottage is gorgeous. The pictures don't do it enough justice. We would definitely like to go back sometime and will be recommending to our friends. Also if anyone is looking for a local taxi whiles staying here, I have to recommend noddys taxi, he was so friendly and looked after us all weekend anytime we called. Can't wait to go back!

3 May 15 “May Day at the Bothy”

A charming little cottage in the middle of the country near to all local attractions. The cottage is in beautiful condition was spotless a warm welcome of homemade scones, wheaten bread, homemade jam and cream was waiting on our arrival. April was very friendly and nothing was to much trouble for her. The cottage was quaint with its own large garden and well of the road. The interior was to a traditional character but with all the modern amenities and a proper working Wi Fi. A true 5 star hotel in a cottage, would stay again and recommend to family and friends.

6 May 15 “Idyllic cottage!”

My husband and I booked The Bothy for the bank holiday weekend and we were both extremely pleased that we did. Upon arrival, we both agreed that the pictures online did not actually do the cottage justice! It was just perfect, idyllic in fact.

We were greeted with tea, scones and fresh wheaten bread upon entering the cottage. The fridge had butter and milk a lovely bottle of wine and card from the owner Neil. All the little touches that you appreciate. This for us set the scene for the rest of the weekend.

After having a quick look around, we were utterly delighted! The cottage is finished to a very high end, with subtle touches everywhere. The cottage is immaculately clean, well finished, but to an extent that you actually feel relaxed.

We settled in on fri evening to a log fire and fish and chips. Dined out on Sat & Sun!

I have to say we stay in a lot of cottages within Northern Ireland, and Ireland and travel quite a bit worldwide, and to date this is the best self catering cottage we have had the pleasure of staying in. We were after a relaxed quick get-away from the daily hectic life in Belfast and this fitted the brief! We will be back and have already looked at summer dates online! Thank you!

23 April 15 “Absolute Perfection”

This really is the perfect holiday rental! The cottage is close enough to the main visitor attractions in the area - Giant's Causeway, Bushmills, Ballycastle & Rathlin Island, and the Dark Hedges, but is quiet and tranquil: a beautiful base for exploration of Northern Ireland. The windows overlook a woodland garden with birds singing and eating from the birdfeeder.

There were fresh flowers in every room!

The Bothy is stocked with a wealth of new release DVDs, books and board games, so, if like us, you experience Northern Ireland in it's less hospitable mood (we had gale force winds, hail and heavy showers throughout our stay), there really is plenty to keep you entertained in this little home-from-home.

The cottage is decorated in excellent taste - in keeping with the nature if it's original use, whilst maintaining a luxury and modernity that is rare in holiday rentals within this price bracket.

April & Neil could not have been more obliging.

If you are planning a stay in this corner of the world, I would look no further... trust me, you'll want to stay forever.

April & Neil could not have been more obliging.

23 Mar 15 “Awesome Bothy”

What can I say that that hasn't already been written?

This little gem of a cottage is simply awesome. Nestled away up a quiet country lane less than 5 miles from Ballycastle. A great place to retreat far from the 'madding crowd' that just oozes opulent charm, from the kitchen to the water closet and everywhere in between!

As soon as you arrive you will receive a very warm welcome from your host, April.

The 'welcome pack' is the most generious that we have ever come across, home made wheaten bread & scones (we brought the remainder of the wheaten home), jam, marmalade, eggs, milk, orange juice etc, even a bottle of wine, not to mention the little treats in the bed rooms. in fact every room had a little treat ... Incredible!

The decor throughout is just amazing also, like you just walked into a page of 'country living magazine" - beautiful drapes and bed linen with a cosy lived in feel about the whole place.

Forget about your hotels and guest houses, this is the place to be! A perfect base if you are holidaying around the north coast.

Well done April!

ps; great WiFi reception also.

4 Mar 15 “Perfect in Every Way”

What can I say, apart from sorry this review took so long April.

You were the perfect host, baking for our arrival, and providing breakfast for the next day.

The cottage was beautiful, warm and very comfortable. Lots of storage, and parking. I would say this place makes the perfect base for touring the Northern coast by bike, or just getting away to a quiet corner of NI.

Should I return to NI, I know exactly where I'll be staying.

19 Feb 15 “Absolutely flawless... the perfect idyll!”

Myself and my sister spent two nights in this beautiful cottage and did not want to leave! As soon as we turned in the driveway we were in love with the place. I cannot recommend this little bolthole enough. It is a peaceful getaway with all of the stunning Antrim tourist spots on your doorstep. The cottage was cosy and tastefully decorated with top quality facilities.. everything was thought of from home baked scones and fire lighting on arrival to the basics in the fridge for a convenient stay. Thank you April and Neil for a wonderful stay in your beautiful bothy, it is just stunning I just wish we could have stayed for longer - next time hopefully!!

5 Feb 15 “Great Escape”

A lovely cottage, warm and welcoming.

A very comfortable bed from which one can watch the birds feeding in the garden.

Ideal location for the Antrim Coast.

Highly recommended.

20 Nov 14 “Mission Accomplished”

We wanted to spend a couple of days in a peaceful, quiet, relaxing, comfortable and cosy environment. The Bothy provided all of this; from the moment we were met by April we felt we had made the right choice. The Bothy is a typical, tastefully decorated country cottage, it has all the modern amenities you would expect ; dishwasher, power shower, T.V, DVD player (good selection of modern DVDS) beds are extremely comfortable with great pillows and duvets. The 2 singles can be zip and locked to make a super king. Plentiful supply of peat and sticks for the wood burning stove. Kitchen has all the contents of your home larder and the home made bread, scones, jam and marmalade are an extra bonus, made and provided by April (nice touch). There is a wealth of information on local tourist attractions and places to eat out.

We had a thoroughly enjoyable stay and hope to rebook again as soon as possible.

6 Nov 14 “Can't wait to go back”

Had the most relaxing and calming break at the Bothy for 2 nights.

April is a wonderfully welcoming host, the home-made scones, bread and conserve were a real treat and the exquisitely appointed cottage is decorated tastefully, fitted out with a top notch bathroom and kitchen mean cooking in the cottage is a breeze and cleaning up after a muddy walk in nearby forest or coastline is a delight. Evenings were spent in front of the cosy fire with one of the plentiful movies or boardgames supplied and a long night's sleep easily turned into a lazy lie in, due to real quality bedding.

Can't wait to return and would recommend for couples, families, friends and everyone in between.

20 Oct 14 “Brilliant Bothy”

Stayed in the Bothy for 1 week during July 14. Very impressed with the quality of the accommodation. April and Neil have spent time and effort making everything just right, their attention to detail makes this property stand out from others. We received a warm and friendly welcome which helped us to settle in quickly. Great location easily accessible to all the sights and attractions of the north coast. Kids (3and 6) are still talking about the brilliant holiday in the Bothy. Big effort to return next summer, work permitting.

8 Oct 14 “If I could give it six stars I would!”

The Bothy is, quite simply, an absolute gem! Fabulous location near all the sights of the North Coast, but nestled in the quiet countryside about four miles from Ballycastle. April and Neil have thought of absolutely everything to make your stay comfortable.

When we arrived the fire was lit and tea and scones were waiting for us - a real treat after our journey from London. The place is wonderfully furnished, with comfy beds, fabulous bed linen and fresh flowers in every room. April has a fabulous eye for interior design. It was lovely looking out of the bedroom window at the birds on the feeder in the morning.

It's the little things that make The Bothy so special - and April really has thought of everything - homemade flapjacks and bread, eggs for your breakfast and milk, juice and butter in the fridge - the larder also has all the things you don't want to buy for a short break like tea, coffee, oil etc etc.

As previous reviewers have said, the photos just don't do the place justice - it is just stunning!

We had a wonderful time and we can't wait to go back again soon! As my husband said - you would be absolutely mad not to stay here!

12 Sep 14 “Memorable trip.”

We have just returned home, from a delightful and relaxing week staying at The Bothy I cannot praise it enough. There were tea and scones made for us on our arrival. The decoration and furnishing were fantastic. The bed and bed linen were so soft it was hard to get up in the morning. It was so quiet surrounded by fields and yet four miles away you were in Ballycastle a lovely harbour town. Twelve miles away and you are at the Giants Causeway. We saw dolphins of the shore at Carnlough and outstanding views along the Antrim Coast road. So a very big thankyou to April and Neil for making our stay so enjoyable.

11 Aug 14 “Relaxing and peaceful - superb!”

If I could find a fault it would be this: it is so quiet and comfortable, we woke up late every day! This lovely cottage is tastefully decorated and furnished in understated colours, with flowers in every room and all mod cons, including WiFi. April greeted us with tea, homemade scones, wheaten bread and raspberry jam and had left tea, coffee, milk, sugar, eggs and homemade marmalade in the well-equipped kitchen and replaced the linen, numerous towels and toiletries at the beginning of the second week along with more homemade comestibles. There are plenty of boardgames, books and DVDs (including new releases) for all ages, should you wish to hide away from the rain. There is a pleasant, inclined garden at the back, with a table and benches ideally placed to watch the numerous twits and finches who visit the bird table. Ballycastle is nearby for petrol garages (Spar is the cheapest), cafes and Supermarkets, greengrocers, butchers, etc. A ferry to Rathlin Island operates several times a day from there, but booking is advisable. The cottage is located near the north east coast and so is a good base from which to explore the Causeway Coast, Antrim Glens and forest parks, whether by car, walking or cycling, yet is within comfortable travelling distance of Belfast, to visit the Titanic Quarter for instance, and beyond (the Ulster Folk Park and the Transport Museum are worth a visit). White Park Bay is a beautiful beach (shared with cows) but is unsafe for swimming and surfing. Nearby bathing beaches are at Ballycastle, Cushendall and Whitefoot. The landscape is marvellous and changes at every bend or shift of light. Oh, and sshh, the spell-binding Dark Hedges are just a stone's throw away.

27 Jul 14 “fantastic”

This cottage was a little gem hidden in northern Ireland. The hostess couldn't have been more helpful. Arriving to tea and scones just made this stay special. The area the cottage was in was very convenient for exploring the north coast and was only a hours drive from belfast. Will definitely be back.

2 Jun 14 “Lovely very charming and comfortable cottage with a very warm welcome by April.”

The cottage is charming, tastefully decorated and kitted out with everything you could expect. The location is quiet and rural. The proprietor, April, was very welcoming with various goodies to greet us. The back woodland garden is pleasant, and watching the birds on the feeders was a delight. The area is well worth exploring, including Rathlin Island, the Giant's Causeway and 'the Dark Hedges all within a half an hour's journey away.

24 Apr 14 “The ultimate cottage experience. We absolutely loved it!”

We booked our stay at The Bothy over the Easter break with our 2 young children. It certainly had the wow factor! On our arrival our host April welcomed us into this amazing little cottage and had made us scones, wheaten bread, homemade jam and a cupboard full of Easter treats. Everything to make our visit a home from home had been thought off - from games and DVDs to toiletries, magazines and books and much more. April and Neil have restored and refurbished the cottage beautifully. Everything about it oozes charm and warmth and the decor is perfection. There was plenty of firewood and turf for the wood burner in the cosy living room. Our children had so much freedom to run around the beautiful garden area to the back and the yard at the front of the cottage. We were within minutes drive to Ballycastle itself and only a short 15 minute journey to the Causeway etc... We can't wait to come back and highly recommend The Bothy to anyone planning a visit to the North Coast.

5 Apr 14 “This cottage has ‘wow’ factor!”

We only stayed the weekend but we wished we could have stayed the whole week. Every need had been considered. April had laid out tea for our arrival and we were warmly welcomed. The kitchen was kitted out with enough equipment to whip up a banquet. We took the lazy option and jumped in the car to the fabulous restaurants that we discovered just 10 minutes down the road, thanks to April's local knowledge. If you are looking for a cosy & charming cottage this hits the spot with all the luxury items you find in a 5* hotel such as power shower, fluffy towels, extra comfy beds and spotlessly clean! Amongst visiting all the famous local sites we also managed to squeeze in a bit of bird watching in our private garden! We could not recommend more highly. Would be suitable for a family, group of friends or a romantic getaway!

21 Mar 14 “We thought places like this didn’t exist!”

"What could we improve?" is what the extremely kind and helpful owners of the Bothy, Neil and April, asked us as we were leaving the place after a wonderful stay. And to be perfectly honest, we couldn't find a thing to say. Everything is brilliant. As we were booking it, we thought that the description of the place was too good to be true... as it turned out however, the description was completely faithful to reality.

We had never seen such attention to detail. Tea and biscuits were ready on the living room table at our arrival. Toiletries were provided... so were wood and turf for the fire. There was even a little glass with fresh flowers on the bedside table! In one word: incredible.

A last word about the surroundings: if you want peace, you will find it there! The cottage is right in the middle of a small forest, with daffodils all around it. The only noise you will hear comes from a few birds –lovely.

7 Mar 14 “An amazing escape created by welcoming hosts.”

The Bothy exceeded our expectations and it's with thanks to both April and Neil for not only sharing such a special place but also for their welcoming hospitality. The cottage is beautifully decorated and full of charm. We'd planned on seeing the sights but it was difficult to get the motivation to leave the cottage and we could have easily snuggled up in front of the fire for the day! This is a fantastic place where every final detail has been considered; even our 3 year old daughter was impressed by the games, children's movies and cookies! Thank you for spoiling us with the hamper, beautiful furnishings, super comfortable beds, sweet smelling flowers and wood for the fire; we couldn't have asked for anything more and will definitely recommend this little gem to all our friends.Type your paragraph here.Jan 17 "Charming Cottage in Excellent Location"

'The Bothy' was our first ever stay in self-catering style accommodation whilst on overseas travel and it would be safe to say that we lucked out completely. Coming from Western Australia where to don't get snow she must of taken pity on us!!!
